No offense Luke but I think Wes' questions are better, SALTED!
Wes' turn! 1. what led you to picking up bass guitar? I remember, in 6th grade during the talent show at Charles E. Brown Middle School, I saw Monday's Avatar play. I remember Chamith and Gabe were both in it. And I wasn't too thrilled by their performance. And I heard Chamith play bass, and for some reason, maybe it was the jackass in me, but I felt like I definately could have done that. I also have been playing instruments my entire life for no reason(violin, banjo, trumpet, and some others), but I felt like now that I have developed an attention span, I could probably do something. I decided on bass because I didn't feel like being the lead man on guitar, I never liked being the center/centre of attention (even though I seem to have developed a liking for it more and more over the years, but maybe everyone does that). By the way, I picked up bass just in time to see Mars Music close, which is more than most people in our school can say (I guess I feel proud to know that Guitar Center had someone worse as a competitor). 2. i feel like i don't know your group of friends that well. what are you guys like? what do you do? Heh, interesting question. This is tricky since I have a lot of friends, in different groups, but considering I'm not really in some "named" group, most friends seem to drift between groups(i.e. Luke is friends with my older friends and he is friends with sophomore friends and pretty much everyone. Jake is also an example since I hang out with him every morning, but he is also friends with Nate Grieb and Dan Gubb and Issac Sokol). But, that isn't really answering your question. I hate the usage of the term "best friend" because it can not be limited to one person or a group of people. But I will say that my main group of people to be with, will be Patrick McSherry, Garth Brody and James Laussen. This is because I hang out with all of them atleast once a week as a group, and usually hang out with Patrick/Garth every day available. So, lets actually begin the question. What are we like. Well, we carry ourselves in a narcissitic way, which I think everyone does, but even in that statement, I am showing narcissism (I am judging everyone). Judging I guess would be the word to describe us. We critique everything and feel that everything must be critiqued. Although this may sound cliche, seeing as I believe and I am sure every believes aswell, that everyone critiques, but we seem to do so in an open manner. We care not of others opinions, but we are not stubborn. It is hard to describe what we are, but we have a laugh, even if it is, and it usually is, at someone else's expense. Now, what do we do. That is simple, but lengthy. We watch movies every weekend. Just recently we held a Stanley Kubrick marathon at my house where we watched 4 of his classics. We all hold a great affinity for movies. We are also very much into video games. Myself and Patrick play an online game together almost everyday, so I suppose if we aren't hanging out, we kind of are. We usually cannot all agree on many video games together (James doesn't care as much, and Garth is stubborn and a cheap bastard so he won't purchase many computer games) except for most SNES and N64 games(Super Smash, Mario of all kind, Zelda, etc.). We also talk a lot about literature while playing video games. Or we talk about anything I suppose. I find the discussions quite interesting, but I guess some may beg to differ, but oh well! This is a shoddy description of us, but what can I say. I guess we also frequent Boston, but never all together. Garth, Patrick and myself sometimes jam together. We usually end up at Patrick's house just hanging around, playing Scrabble or video games. 3. is there a day sleeper song you secretly hate playing? Heh, as a matter of the fact there is a song. And it is the song that we will always play until I kill all of you off. It is, "I Swear." Now, I like the song, but playing it, man, it can get brutal. I think it is because it is always at the end of the setlist, so I start to get a little bored by then, but it could also be because it has ALWAYS been in the setlist and has never been switched out. Something about that D A D A D A D A D A D A thing drives me crazy! 4. do you ever write songs? where are they? I occasionally write songs, but not often. They are all stored up in the noodle, that is, until I forget them. I have recorded some, and I have saved every recording ever done with my machine, but I don't always like sharing the songs. It isn't because I'm bad at writing songs because I guess my songs that I write for Jazz combo must be good since they always get chosen, but I hate that logic. The thing is, I will like my song one day, and literally, hate it the next. I also feel that I have not written anything that I've been really proud of. I am very much into the whole Dino. Jr./Pixies sound, but I have not learned how to develop that yet, but I will pick it up eventually. So, I don't know what to say. I will write songs by accident and delete them on purpose! 5. how are you faring with the ladies these days? Well, I suppose that depends on your definition of faring. In terms of, if I am getting any, the answer would be the big no. I'm friends with a bunch of girls though, so if that is what you mean by faring, then I suppose I am doing fine. Hmmm, this is quite a tricky question to answer, but I think I have found resolution. So, I'm a clean kid. I don't drink/do drugs or none of dat brown brown, which also means that I don't go to many parties because I wouldn't really feel comfortable being around a bunch of drunk people when I would be sober. So I cannot randomly hook up with a girl. So basically, I dunno. I feel like everything will take it's course as long as I stay myself because I see people who act phoney around girls, and if I resorted to that then I don't deserve the girl. I could go on a long rant or explanation on this issue, like many others, but I have done one to many so far so I will end it with one more sentence. I'm not sure. | | 5:22 pm |
Don't know how to do dem cutz
1. Would you ever eat human meat if it was cooked appealingly? Now this question I have actually thought a lot about since seeing it. The "Underground Man" side of me would say "I hope there is seconds," but I also feel as if I would wuss out. It would probably be the only time human meat would be cooked in a way I would find appetizing though. Hmmmm. I say a small bite, and if it is good, then maybe I shall eat all of Jeff. 2. How many feathers are on a Purdue chicken? 0 sonz. 3. When you went to New Orleans a while ago, do you remember the best thing you ate? Hmmm, I really don't remember much of what I ate, but seem to only remember what I saw. Well, there was this one thing that was pretty good. I can't think of the name of it. I think it might have started with a B. Anyway, it was like 3 cressants(sorry for the spelling) all together with a ton of sugar. I guess more like fried dough, but a lot of it. It was quite good and explains the average weight of the South. 4. Do you think that Mr. Weintraub is attractive? First off, no. I shall answer this question in as heterosexual way as possible. Okay, so when I first saw him, I thought he looked quite odd. But, as the year has progressed, I seem to be fine with the way he looks and have grown accustom to his look. I even see people in Boston who look like him, but that might be because he has a distinct look. This then may raise the question, can beauty(not saying I see it) can be found in anyone? If I can find a man to look weird and later find him to be normal, what does this say. But you will have to ask some of dem kitchen-folkz on how he looks. 5. Do you get tired of being the utility bassist for any blossoming musical endeavor? I thought a lot about this question too. Now, I could say that I find it annoying, and I sometimes think I come off like I do(job well done me!). I am usually quite flattered by this, even if I am the only bassist around pretty much, but I suppose Daniel Radin and ChamCham are here. Regardless, I usually feel, not pressured in, but obligated to join a band if I have the time to do so, and usually end up being pretty busy in the end result, but currently I like my situation. I really like playing with Day Sleeper and TMOQ, and I jam with Animal Diplomacy when I have time. So to answer your question, if I have not done it already, it may be tiring, but it is quite fun being "the bassist" and it gives me a lot more freedom for what kind of music I want to play. If you want me to interview you, just comment with a prompt for me to come in, sweep you off your feet, and give you one hell of an interview! | | Sunday, January 29th, 2006 | | 12:06 am |
Goddamit!
So, I was playing FF7 for a lot of the day. I beat all of disc 2 no sweat. I beat all of disc 3, and lose at the Sephiroth fight when he becomes the angel. Sucks ass since I have to do all of disc 3 over again. =(. Also, sorry to Candy Corners since I was not able to get a ride. | | Sunday, December 25th, 2005 | | 8:20 am |

Nanaki
I'm up to the Temple of Ancients. It's getting pretty tough and I'll probably have to level up Aeris before continuing. I got Vincent. I ran into Yuffie, and luckily she didn't steal any of my materia so I don't need to go after her yet. She only stole like 200 or 300 gil, so it was no biggie. I got Cid, and he's pretty badass, but no one replaces Nanaki. Cait Sith is now evil, and I just noticed this time that he is just an employee member of Shinra. I have noticed a lot of things different in the 7 years since I last played this. And I noticed I'm just as addicted. | | Friday, September 9th, 2005 | | 6:12 am |

I've got wood... I got my stuff from warmoth and I think they made a birdseye maple neck instead of a regular maple neck, which rocks the partay since they charged me for regular maple(I think it's also figured, so my hat is off to Warmoth and all my otha HOLMIEZ!)

The neck looks a lot better in person then with these shots.
